I realized today that (as of 2010) I've had this LiveJournal account for ten years.

So.  There's something to think about.

Dear Santa,

It's amazing how you manage to get things done. I have a lot to thank you for!!

This holiday was going to be pretty bad for us- we didn't even have money for food, really, we cooked out of the cupboards, and made do. We were just grateful to be together!

We usually give gifts and fill stockings and all- but we had to limit spending to one small gift each- I got a new Teapot (which makes me VERY happy, as I love my hot tea!) and I was able to buy my otherhalf a bag of fresh roving (wool) and a new drop spindle (for hand-spinning). He loved both, so it was very nice. But still, we knew that was small and sad compared to everyone around us.

But Guess What??? What would have been a sad little one-gift-each holiday turned into something much MUCH different!!

First, family sent FULL stockings, with lots of yummy treats inside... and that was so fun to open and just... wow, you know? It was special to have them not even KNOW we couldn't afford stockings, but they had the whim/urge to send full ones anyway! WOW. So we DID get stockings after all!!

Then, some friends of my otherhalf, sent him some other lucious Fiber-craft stuff- lots and lots more roving and such for his hand-spinning! He was SO happy!! He has been dying it left and right, making bright new yarns to knit with! SO much JOY for him!!

I had been planning and hoping to buy him a full Spinning Wheel... but finances were so bad, I could not- I was plotting to buy him one for his birthday instead, since we had such fail for the holidays, but his Mom got wind of it... and she sent a CHECK- for the right amount, with a note that said he was to buy that Spinning Wheel he has wanted so badly!

WOW... how many people have even one person understand how badly they want something, much less have it all but delivered right into their hands that way? WOWsers! He is getting his spinning wheel, and we had a nice holiday and everything!!

On top of all that, my friends did the most AMAZING things- first, they pooled their money and bought our horse a winter blanket. This was AMAZING, because they're very very expensive, and the poor horse was very COLD during the sudden cold-snap! It was an act that went beyond just compassion for the horsie, and well into compassion for how we felt worrying about her and not being able to buy the blankie when she needed it! They got it for her, and now she is toasty-warm-happy!!

Then some other friends of mine, they came and mowed my lawn and cleaned the yard... and WOW was it nasty-dirty... I am disabled, and it's kind of hard for me, and the landlord really freaks out a LOT about the yard being messy... so they came over and did that, and it was AMAZING for me- I feel so much better, about us and about myself, with a yard that is clean enough that now I can work on keeping it up- either by paying someone for monthly service or buying a mower for us to use, I dunno, but when money comes back into our lives in a month or two, it won't be too messy for a service TO come and do it anymore!!

THEN... like that wasn't enough- another friend of ours sent us a care package- it has little fuzzy mice for the cats (Whoo hoo!! those cats LURV those micies!) and some awesome meaty treats for the dog, and a big book/kit that shows how to make your own pet treats at home! (Which is especially nice, since our pets eat a lot of home-made stuff anyway!) So then EVERYONE in the house was happy!!!

So I know this is a long letter, Santa... but this is a serious serious Thank You!!

Our tiny little holiday was completely turned around by the love and caring of people doin' your work... It weas truly amazing.

Thank You.

I was a little surprised with the way things worked out this year. I was hoping things would start to work out between James and I, and even after giving him the ultimatum, things haven't really changed so much. But what has changed is my mentality about this. If things aren't fixed by the end of the Semester, I'm staying with Ant and his Brother.  I'm looking at needing like, several hundred dollars more, but everyone has been very supportive of me leaving, and several people have offered to help pay my way. They really want me there, and I think it's where I'll be happy. Only a few more months till it's go time I guess.

Thanks Santa.

Hi Santa!

I take it you got my letter that I sent to you earlier this month through the snail-mail. I know you got it, because you have some magical way of getting all those letters that are addressed to you in the North Pole. As you will recall, I asked for some big-ticket items this year. But I didn't expect to get any of them so soon.

THANK YOU FOR THE JOB!!!!!!!

Yes, it deserves all caps. I don't quite know what to say; I'm kinda speechless about this, Santa. Now granted, it's only been a couple of days and I'm only in training, but this current long-term (hopefully really lonnnng-term) assignment is looking about as perfect and full of awesome potential as can be. Oh, Santa, I really hope this works out! The little office they're giving me is totally cute! And you know how much I love jobs that involve multiple layers of futzy-putzy detail; how I'm just far enough along on the OCD and Autism spectra to really get into that stuff. And the little private office is great -- well, you know about my Tourettes and how difficult it is for me to work out in the open where people can watch me tic; I was so miserable in some of those previous assignments. I can't thank you enough for getting me into a workspace where I'm shielded and don't have to mask. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!

OK. Whew! All right, no more capslocking now. If it's not too late to ask, may I add a few more things to that list I sent you? We could use some furniture, specifically a couch. We haven't had a couch in years, and we don't want to take on someone's old pet-stained one. A new couch with matching ottoman would be cool. We could also use two or three new book cases, since the old ones are falling apart. M really wants one of those fancy flat-screened televisions; this is not high on my priority list, but it would make M happy. I would like to get some better health coverage, rather than the (useless) high-deductible plan I bought for myself. As you may recall, I've been carrying around a lump in my right breast since 2005. The last time it was looked at by a radiologist (2007), it was still labeled "benign," but it makes me nervous, you know? If we ever have to actually do anything about it, I don't know how we will afford that. The new job is awesome, but does not include health coverage. Oh, and can I also add some Hetalia doujinshi to that list? I love that show, but it's so hard to get the doujinshi state-side. And maybe some new figurines and other anime swag. (Psst! My favorite Hetalia characters are England, America, Canada and France.)

Anyway Santa, please protect our health and our jobs, and bless our kitties. Please bless our parents, and all our sibs and their kids. Kiss Mrs. Claus and have a happy new year!

I made a Shoujo Kakumei Utena "group" on dA.

Just wanted to plug that.  And use my Dug icon.
